Deepseek discussion about Bandcamp changes - very dire.
Conclusion
Your statement, "they sell our music to the highest bidder without paying us," is emotionally and practically correct in its feeling of violation and loss of control, but technically slightly inaccurate in the strictest legal sense.
A more precise, but less punchy, way to say it is:
"Bandcamp's current terms allow them to license our music to third parties without our direct, per-use consent, and they only pay us 50% of the money left over after they deduct their undefined costs, effectively robbing us of control and a fair market price for our work."
Your concern is 100% valid. The 2022 TOS change was a fundamental shift from Bandcamp being a passive storefront to becoming an active licensing agent for your music, with terms heavily skewed in their favor.
Joseph ShippeeI’ve never been a fan of BC
Almark *man they have changed behind the scenes, not a safe spot any longer.
Almark *From what Deepseek tells me BC can now sell our work for streaming to these platforms, that's due to songtradr, they are pretty big in the industry.

B. HasemeyerTirelessly working around the clock. The internet changes every day. As things break, Almark's the one that plugs them back in.
social media websites really are just one large scrolling bullition board.
