• Short Bio
  • B. Hasemeyer (real name Dan Pruett) here, and this is the only social network you will find me on. I've had to censor myself over these 40 years because I'm a bit of a loudmouth and I learned a long time ago that I cause waves. So I decided to make "wavs" instead.

We are lucky to have such transparency from our leadership here. No other organization I know of is as honest and helpful as WEATNU, and our fearless leader Almark. Who knows what this will be or where we will any of us find ourselves in a year. I recently moved back to the city of Shelby NC, and I owe my life choice to produce and perform music full-time to WEATNU's support of B. Hasemeyer.

Almark *good to have you good sir.

The HUB's space and community is much appreciated as a safe and comfortable share spot. Here's my last new B. Hasemeyer tune for the foreseeable future. A complicated song that has been a labor of love since late June of this year.

Almark *I didn't know what to say :D

    B. HasemeyerI originally had 4 synth leads, all in G major, which sounded horrible. I went back and pitch-shifted three of them. Some of the harmonies that immerged were quite interesting.

Almark *so it was G major? crazy, I could feel it was, you see, I play by ear, I don't know my notes like that's an A that's B etc.

    B. HasemeyerIt was in G major yeah. Basically G to D to C to E most of the time. When I play keyboards I stay on the white keys. Whole steps are easier for me to manage in my mind, and you can always catch half steps by banging out some extra white keys with your extra fingers. Of course you know a lot more about keys than me Almark. Would it surprise you to learn that my first instrument was piano? I started at about age 3.

Almark *not surprising at all. My mother has been a pianist her whole life, late Father was guitarist most of his. Piano wasn't taught to me, I felt my way around, and grew up to a lot of jazz, among a lot of other stuff as you have read in my long story.

    B. HasemeyerI sincerely appreciate that Almark. And I'm honored by your comparison to The Doors, wow.

Jason NorwoodI guess now I have to sign into SoundCloud to listen. Time to remember login......;)

Jason NorwoodI definitely like this. And yeah, it's a Transmission Nova sound. *grin*

Almark *it's because it's psychedelic and that's one of the roots of TNR

    B. HasemeyerThanks a lot Jason Norwood 😀 for logging in and checking out the song. I had that in-studio take sitting on my phone for about 3 months. We kept saying we were going to do another take, expand the midsection with the freestyling, but with some written lyrics, and add a lengthy instrumental outro. Fun fact, I wrote the song during a lengthy stint in jail last year.

Elsewhere (for a film that never got made)

The above track is pretty much line-for-line an autobiography up until the point which this recording was made, a little over ten years ago now. There was a film to be directed by Morgan Nebieber to feature a song written by me, and this was the song for the film.

if you are a stubborn independent artist who will not f*** with labels, this is the place for you.

Though I have played with other bands, B. Hasemeyer has for 20 years been a solo artist. After catching the attention of first Columbia, then Sony (and turning them down flat) WEATNU Records had my back to put out my 5th proper album "The B. Tree," an epic double discer full of some star-studded SoundCloud collabs. Weatnu Records saw fit to make sure my 17 track eccentric opus was available everywhere, on the date I chose, even down to the minute I decided to make the announcement to my fans. Sort of a who's who of 2015 underground music. I also printed 17 CD copies with original art by the art teacher at my city's local highschool.

I've worked with lables, none before 2015, a few after. In my experience......
NO RECORD LABEL IN THE F*CKING UNIVERSE IS BETTER THAN WEATNU RECORDS

Almark *you are kind sir thank you. I'm getting ready to gather up every single email ever sent our way from our weatnurecords@gmail.com account - that's just about 10 years worth and tell them about this place. That will ensure someone will find us.

    B. HasemeyerNeed any help, let me know.

Almark *thank you, got my way of sorting things.

    Dark mode works!

    Almark *indeed, finally

Almark *just wanted you to know, you can make your profile if you want, avatar, border and bio. Soon to add other stuff in that area so people add hyperlinks.
