• Short Bio
  • #WEATNU began summer of 2014 as a movement for the DIY/Electronic - avant-garde, scene, encompassing, indie rock, post-punk, and later transitioning to experimental lo-fi- hip-hop. We are - Radio | Label | Magazine - We are the New Underground. https://weatnu.com

Since 2014 we have been not just a radio but record label and magazine.
During this time we are idle but not closed entirely.
This means the future is possible.
There are some things that may enhance our growth.
Thanks to archive.org which can be added to our already exiting artist directory over at https://weatnu.com/artist-discovery/
There are plans to give the artist complete control by allowing upload of their works and creating creative commons downloads.
Our no sale option means complete freedom to the artist who wishes to go this route, and becomes a hope to find new people interested in your work.
Things are changing in the online world and more people are pushing for control over the artists music, labels, and distributors, wasn't it about time we took matters into our own hands?

It took Resident Advisor to bring this problem to the front. They are talking about where is the next great new electronic genre that no one has heard? We know why. Those people are silenced and we can't be heard because of these websites

WEATNU Records is at the moment transitioning from its current distributor to another.
We have been in need of something new for a long time.
Right now all releases are on hold until we manage this, as we are looking into RouteNote as a replacement for Symphonic Distribution.
In the meantime, your releases must go to another platform, we recommend distrokid.
Once this is sorted you will be contacted and we'll get the music moved back to our label end.

With our exit from social media and Facebook, some new things which are actually plans from the past are unfolding.
    * soon our slow building newsletter list - The #WEATNU Transmitter will become a reality, but we needed to have an audience of some kind.
    What you will find inside.
Artist info, releases on our labels, who joined the radio, interviews that we have done lately, showcasing the artist and other things that we have in a whole as a movement.
It's a good time to join so you can take part in the first issue. It's actually the 2nd issue, because we did attempt it a little while ago when Transmission Nova opened.

    See you there.

#WEATNU leaves FB, and all social media.

post created for FB, but you can read it here.

Our base of operations was here on FB since the start of 2014, but that was due to artists and their fans as they connected with one another.

At one time we had this ability to keep progressing with you, but as time continued and one policy after another thanks to FB. The closing of organic reach, push of post till you drop culture and finally other groups you don't know showing up on your artists feed, #WEATNU was choked from view.

It matters not whether a person is posting their most detailed info about such and such album or artist.

Our website maintains the artist. Between radio and label and our magazine will continue without the hindrance of social media. Once discovered, knowing the intent behind FB it is only as my moral duty to leave this place 'entirely' forever.
our page however from the past will remain, until they close it from non-use.

Look to our newsletter this will be a good way to keep up with us.

Thank you understanding, we aren't leaving, we're evolving away from major control.

Our bandcamp, streaming and other things we have always done continues.

This is the final message on FB
We have not stopped helping the artist, remember that but social media is no place for us any longer - we hope others follow in time.
As an artist I can't allow myself to use it either.

JuZ ShoWyeah I know how you feel - you gotta protect your peace with it at all costs.

Almark *I'm reclaiming it, going back to what I had - we don't need social media, it needs us, remember that. All that kept me there was knowing if I left WEATNU would fail, people would be upset with me.

Almark *I started questioning myself when seeing posts of artists on video doing their stuff. - I need to get in gear and get my work done. No that isn't the thinking I needed, that got me going, ok time to quit this. I fear for society now, as they keep using that rot, what kind of world is it going to be in just one more year.

JuZ ShoWMan...I gopt sensory overlaod from FB - Ive just logged off.

Almark *you know I even used ad blocker for years? It wasnt' enough because stuff started showing in feed that really got to me. Then the mocking laughing crying face. I wanted to punch every single person who made that on serious posts. It was time to go.

Not every artist is a marketer, and they shouldn't be required to be one. If you're a musician, that's who you are. We have been forced to become what we are not and it's not for everyone. As an artist, I stand with every single artist and have for 12 years. Because of this dedication our Artist Directory was created so you don't have to be a marketer.

Your music sits on its own profile page you share, professional EPK included. As a musician I have stepped away from any attempt to be found among 120k releases per day, as we know this number is outrageous for any artist old or new.

The only thing left to do was to create a digital holding portfolio for the artist to add everything about their work so others in private would listen and take in without systems dictating what a person seeks out.

They have the choice, just as one looks through a crate of records in some store or flea market. Artist Directory is our way to give that back to artists.

Artist Directory is ready for all . Join us at https://weatnu.com/artist-discovery - just click the join button to the right. We have chatroom once you register, it's going to be refined as well, a blog for all artists will also be connected soon. This is our way to give the DIY/ Indie scene their freedom again. Join us below, free as in beer. Our 12 year comes this summer and we are 91% complete with all features

Amber Killionhttps://weatnu.com/tab/?artist_id=37 it should be finished minus some soundcloud singles, that are lost in the matrix, because I didn't add them all to a playlist... I upload directly soundcloud after making a track.

Almark *there is another way to upload many, creat ea playlist in Soundcloud, but I'm not certain playlists from Soundcloud will work in artist directory, need to test that.

We are clearly gathering artists in our Artist Discovery platform, as we are 90% complete with everything that was promised.
What is coming, a fully working EPK, Export of your entire portfolio so you can save things, or even re-upload a completely different portfolio.
Multiple selectable tabs so you can load different versions of your profile to showcase others - all easy to do (tiny files)
After we are 100% done, there are plans to create a blog for all and making label and radio profiles for the music supporter, and a proper working chatroom.
This whole system that runs artist directory is just about 1 MB in size.

This was written on our FB page - we're not one to pull any punches, and people appreciate that honesty.

#WEATNU began as a punk movement for the DIY mindset. In the current events considering their control over people, that is Big tech. A ruling, caused them to pay people back for being evil. I had this to say on YouTube. All of us are tired of this. Our Artist Directory is a prime reason for this, and it's helping artists one at a time. It's making true growth happen, and that was greatly needed. Before that we had great sparseness and people simply lost touch, in reality people return. But you don't show up to the ballroom, neither do your patrons! They kept us from showing what we're doing to our audience and people simply thought we took a hike.

Hey Google, how does it feel to be evil now?

They take adv of all of us and put our friends in front of us to get us addicted to hoping we can talk to another human being, while dangling the carrot in front of us, never giving us what we desire, that's evil. I have struggled since they began around 2011, as an adult, not a child, fighting the system trying to help DIY musicians and all they ever do is show you things that aren't relevant to your following. They need to be called down for that and change now. A healthy platform would do right and make it like normal communication but they are pocketing our hard to earn dollars (if you choose to pay) just to find like-minded people. These companies will become overtaken by the next decentralized website in the future.

We'd like to invite you to join us, register yourself as an artist - We are the New Underground - Our artist directory is a way to hold artists together - free.

There are still developments happening to complete our vision from that one platform.

This summer we will open our next sub-label - Urban Landscape Records for old school, experimental hip-hop, boom-bap and soulful sounds of the groove. We are waiting for the green light to move to Subvert.fm so we can, and we will bring all our labels there.

Jason NorwoodI got the green light for my artist page on Subvert. It'll be tricky to handle all that in Linux, but soon. Soon.....

Almark *but are they allowing you to upload yet, if they are, that means we're next

Jason NorwoodApparently I can set it up, but the whole thing's still only open to artists. I haven't been able to start working on it just yet.

Almark *they mentioned they were open to uploads as they roll out artists but it's up in the air
