I’ve worked with a number of artists over time, and one thing I’ve learned is how important commitment is in collaboration.
Too often, projects get started with good intentions, but end up delayed, abandoned, or replaced by new releases before the original work is ever finished. That not only wastes time, it undervalues everyone involved.
Because of this, I’ve made the decision to only take on collaborations where there is clear commitment, follow-through, and respect for the process. That also means paid work.
Music might be a passion, but when you involve other people, it deserves the same level of professionalism as any job.
Jason NorwoodIt's one reason why I rarely collaborate with other artists. I have no problem mixing and/or mastering someone's stuff, but I'm very particular on who I can work well with musically. So I just keep my inclination to work alone. But you're definitely right--professionalism was always key when I was in a band and working with a bunch of different people.
Almark *once had this guy a few years ago. He sent me his stuff but kept piling high channels on, just was rude about stuff. After working on the 2nd song with him , dealing with his attitude and all the needless extra's I said, over this next song I'm done and that's that.

Almark *as harsh as those words are, I completely understand. They target everyone, they craft this system around our viewing habits and them take what we watch doesn't matter who and pester other people with it, even people who don't watch that garbage.
Almark *I think in time people will become so sick of it that future CEO's will do away with it.

Almark *are you having to add those photos directly into the window or copy paste? I tried to add a plugin that allowed for copy paste but it was buggy at best./

In the past 3 years I realised I could no longer work 8 hours in a day Anymore, or even do 2 hours of physical work without my body turning to shit.
I realised I need more rest than most people, and doing 2-4 hours in the studio per day is enough, along with a few days of doing nothing during the week.
I also realised I am pretty bad a planning things so adding things to an online calender is out for me unless I have any medical appointments. I work when my body can, and the best part about this is that I am my own boss.

Almark *work in spurts. When I was heavy into writing, I woudl exhaust myself, because writing music does that to me.
The same goes for this movement, I have to step back from it and for 2 months I haven't had time to myself at all, because of the building of artist directory, which has become the more important thing we have had in 12 years with #WEATNU.
Each time I'm getting more of myself back as I reach 90% complete, but my paradox is this.
When I release new music, even on Subvert which is now open, is anyone really going to connect with me?
I do not have hope in the system we use. I use to think, big deal, it's just technology and people will find me among the noise but the very system we relied on has abused us by refusing us service. Breaks are good, I hope you feel better just work in spurts.

I don't normally do this. But I currently do not own any live gear to do a gig.
Every musician understands how expencive it is. It can cost up to $2,500 to even own the basics like a mixer, speakers, cables, etc.

Even though I run two businesses they do not earn me enough money to even cover the cost of half of it. I cannot work a typical 9 -5 because I have a few health issues like hip dysplasia, a degenerative bone desease in my back and ankle, also a baker's cyst in my left knee.
