They say you should let go of what no longer serves you. During my social media detox, I deleted my Threads account. In this post, I’m going deeper into why I believe it’s one of the worst social media platforms on the internet — and why leaving it felt necessary for my well-being.

Jason NorwoodSee, I managed to largely bend Threads to my will, although I have a huge "hidden words" list. But I manage to see a lot less politics and a lot more in the way of music posts. Not that I'm maligning anyone's decision to get off social media. I still occasionally deal with "audio bros" and audiophiles who all like to force their opinions on everyone else. Facebook is ultimately useless now, all the bots are now on Threads, Instagram I only ever posted abstract photographs on until it got boring....the ultimate "enshittification".
Almark *FB won't allow me to post anything on my own profiles, WEATNU, radio, magazine, they have locked me out, wanting me to use a phone to verify, I will not, I don't even have a phone
Clara HembreeMy husband runs our Insta account. We share band stuff and that's it. One of my main reasons for leaving Insta is because it has the ability to influence young girls to commit suicide. It's horrible. Real life horror. I've left FB altogether. Sometimes I log in to check messages... there usually aren't any.
Almark *a good reason to leave
Almark *then I believe we are in the right place here at #WEATNU, Jason. What I have been doing is quietly digging into old emails 10 years backk contacting these folks and they are returning to radio, They believed we closed down in 2016, this is reviving the movement and groover is another place I'm gaining a following by giving them place on the radio too.
With PR firms in contact with me once again, we will be what we once were just not as booming, more organized, better control and I learned a little these 11 years. weatnu.com is back and I'm glad for that, because it's the front end of everything we will do, showcasing once more the artist right on the front page, giving them a portal. to the label and radio all in one site Https://weatnu.com right now shows the artist releases and stuff is broken because it's a backup from 2016, so I'll be working on it and getting it up to par. We had to work from the inside out. The WEATNU transmitter is our newletter started a few years ago, I only sent out a few of them but lately I decided to get people to join it and use it as a means of travel to their emails so we can tell them what we are doing weekly or monthly or per event. About to write an article on magazine The Roots of #WEATNU Return.
I do not USE AI to write music, or audio master my work. I am glad Bandcamp banned it.
JuZ ShoWI call it cheating because fully prompted AI music is not real music.
Almark *it is cheating to use only it.
Dan PruettIt is cheating to use it at all. If you can't mix and master, then learn how or find a friend who can master your track for you. I personally want nothing to do with AI. I haven't even enabled voice control on my phone. Or Microsoft Copilot. The one AI app I use sometimes on my phone is Claude, which I use mostly as a web search engine. I ask it specific questions an d it comes back quickly with specific answers.
But if someone told me I'd have to do my next B. Hasemeyer album using an AI-based recording software or else I'd have to quit being a musician, I honestly don't know what I would do.
Almark *as a tool it helped build this website, but it didn't make this framework, humans did. All I did was ask how to get a website like this up and running. This isn't a typical website, it needed Apache 2 to run it.
JuZ ShoWDan if I had someone ask me to do that I'd tell them to piss right off - blocked lol
The submissions are pouring in for season 3 of JuZ Reacts - Thank you so much!
Don't forget I start filming, editing, and scheduling the shows in a couple of weeks!

Let's do this!

Clara HembreeI just sent in our song!
JuZ ShoWAwesome! Thank you so much. I should be able to play it sometime during the year - I have over 30 submissions to do! :)
Victim of Existence
Sometimes I am traumatised
by every single thing
that I remember.
I am not used to my routines,
balance is exhausting.
Yet, I am always searching.
There is so much I need.
So much to do.
I wanna cram myself in
So these thoughts cannot find me.
I’d move forward faster,
I am hard on myself
even though I do a lot.
I am inside a box
that I call home.
They tell me I failed,
They tell me that
no one owes me anything.
I get it wrong,
everybody hates me.
Yet, you try to exist.
you’re still there.
I wasn’t built for the noise
that keeps pulling me in.
Almark *we have a blogger if you want ot use it :)
JuZ ShoWI am just working on some ideas for lyrics - I wrote two songs worth of lyrics in the past month lol who knows some of them might work.
Almark *i see
Dan PruettGreat. That would work for lyrics. Also stands alone as a powerful poem.
JuZ ShoWYeah I thought so, Dan. Who knows it may work as everything lol
and0rod madnessdjthats impressive I just use my bedroom
JuZ ShoWThank you!, Andriod. I have been using my living room for years. In fact each part of it has been categorize to suit everything I do. I have a reading corner, a desk where I do coloring in and quilling, an area where I can set up, and perform live on places like tiktok or mixcloud, and of course a place where I can rest and watch Netflix or amazon prime. The stuidio is situated in the corner next to my TV and sound system. I only upgraded my studio monitors and screens recently - the studio monitors were a birthday present from my parents.
Almark *the lights subdue the eyes into a sleepy slumber.
JuZ ShoWyeah it is very relaxing!
Almark *ZZzzzzzZzzz
Goodbye, Threads. It was nice knowing you.
No more sharing stuff about music, and having gatekeepers, and other musicians trash you for it. No more making a post and having people telling me I have failed. No more posting photos your DJ controller, calling it turntable., and be slammed for making a mistake. No more making posts, getting slammed for it, and not have anyone defend you or support you.
Fuck those assholes. I keep my peace.
You won't get that on #WEATNU .
JuZ ShoWI agree
Jason NorwoodThere are the people I refer to as "audio bros"--supposed experts in audio engineering and music production who don't offer advice, they just tell you what you're supposedly doing wrong.
Almark *they are the worst man
Almark *I see those fools all over YouTube, any time I see a video that says 'you're mixing wrong all this time' or you read that book wrong, I avoid it. Waste of space.
JuZ ShoWJason, I know right!! It really drives me insane - like as if I didn't know which way my monitors should be - horizontal or vertical. Those sort of musicians are very controlling I reckon.
Blast from the past!
Check out B.B.E with Seven Days and One Week , which came out in 1996
(Takes awhile to get going, But listen til the end)
Almark *The Yamaha DJX was right on time when they made their synthesizer. (rompler)
It has a beat just like, the thing is full of many electronic dance beats, it was unique to its time.
Remember these sounds squarely.
I have mine, over there, behind me, it's the 2nd one, I had to find a replacement years ago, the keys became so brittle under the plastic - sponge died out
Watch out for music industry scams.
I just had someone from Nigeria claiming to be a DJ from a radio station asking me to pay 35 dollars AUD for radio promotion via whatsapp. They had no credentials. I just reported them and blocked them.
JuZ ShoWy7eah but you cant get a following, and as a musician you're basically feeling out of place.
JuZ ShoWy7eah but you cant get a following, and as a musician you're basically feeling out of place.
Almark *I've felt out of place online since the day I joined the internet, doesn't matter how much I post it's always been hard.
Dan PruettI've felt out of place since I exited the womb.
JuZ ShoWI felt out of place before I was born!
